The Principal Advisory Programme

For individuals, families, and the enterprises they lead.

What Got You Here

Most principals, whether leading alone, alongside a family, or with business partners, built what they have by deciding decisively, trusting their own judgement, and harnessing first-mover advantage.

What follows is different. Leading wealth or an enterprise that has outgrown its original structure, governance, and underpinning judgment, needs an entirely new set of competences.

The Problem

Two Aspects Fall Behind

Two aspects almost imperceptibly change, intensifying personal pressure and scrutiny.

The first is structural: Several advisors, tax, legal, investment, each excellent in their own domain, but unaligned with a single plan or holding the full view.

The second is less obvious: the instincts and judgment that once decided fast and alone start to lag behind an expanding, complex business.

In Practice

For example, a family with assets of EUR 45 million had engaged four separate advisors across two jurisdictions over fifteen years. Each were competent in their domain, and none working to a unified brief.

The family's tax position had never been optimised across jurisdictions, and the estate structure unreviewed since the founding generation's original documents were established. When a governance dispute arose between two branches of the family, there was no framework to resolve it.

The eventual legal process cost the family EUR 3.2 million and eighteen months of fractured relationships.

The work that followed was not about choosing better advisors. It centred on building a governance structure that matched what the family's wealth had become.

Reducing the constant pressure meant developing shared language and capacity for effective decision-making as complexity and family involvement compounded.

From the Room

“Presenting at a private banking summit, I was struck by how many highly successful entrepreneurs approached me afterward to share their own experience: the constant pressure of feeling watched, by the public, by family, by friends, by their own advisors, no matter how much they had already built. What struck me was not the wealth. It was how high the pressure still ran underneath it.”

The Advisory Engagement

This advisory, conducted jointly by Isabel Page and Dr. Nikolas Epp, works with a small number of founders and the families to reduce pressure on the structural and human dimensions of leading significant wealth or a fast-growing business.

It is not investment advisory, tax advisory, or governance consulting on its own. It is the work that makes those functions perform more effectively.

Engagements are private, context-specific, and limited in number. If what is described here is recognisable, the next step is a conversation.

The Advisory Journey

Phase 1: Assessment

Isabel Page and Dr. Nikolas Epp spend this phase getting to know the principal, the family or business partners involved, and the wider structure around them, existing advisors, governance, and decision-making patterns. The result is a precise, shared understanding of where governance has fallen behind, before any structural work begins.

Phase 2: Integration

Enhancing effective structural governance, establishing appropriate and effective advisory relationships, and developing the capacity for optimal decision-making as organisational, financial, and familial complexity compounds.

Duration

Six months from the start of the assessment phase.
